If you are here, you probably know that PowWow's owner, Tribal Voice, went out of business and PowWow died without having their servers to connect to. The folks at jazy.net edited PowWow version 3.50 and have it connecting to their own server. I am providing information for the refugees of the old Hot Topics community on PowWow about how to get PowWow up and running on jazy.net's server so they can connect to my Hot Topics community server.

You will need a to download a couple of files to get going in PowWow and the Hot Topics Community.

Step 1: Download: pw350.exe. This is the PowWow 3.50 Installer.

Step 2: Locate and run "pw350.exe" to install PowWow using the default options.
After install is complete, Do not run PowWow yet!

Step 3: Download: PowWowHT.exe. This is the update that allows PowWow to run without Tribal's Servers.

Step 4: Locate and run "PowWowHT.exe" to update PowWow and the jazy.net and Hot Topics communities to your address book.

When prompted on where to install to, leave it set to C:\ and simply click the "Install" button. When you see the Confirm file Replace window, click on the "Yes to All" button.

You can now safely run PowWow and setup your user account as in the old days.

Step 5: Click on the wrench icon to open preferences. Set the PULS / Tribe server to jazy.net as shown below.

Click the "OK" button when finished.

Step 6: Finally, click on the Communities icon to open the address book.
Click on a community you want to join, be sure to put a check in the box by the words "Direct Connect", then click the "Join" button as indicated below.

Now one final important note. PowWow is was never designed to be run in this manner. You will receive errors as shown below, and they are normal. The best thing to do is leave the error(s) on the screen, just move it out of your way. If you click OK or close it, more errors will follow. Leaving them open will keep the errors to a minimum.
